Hubert C. Archibald, 85, of Moncton, with his family by his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 15, 2010. Born in New Glasgow, NS, he was the son of the late Prescott and Mary (MacMillan) Archibald. Hubert was a retired CNR draftsman with 45 years service and was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, taught Sunday School and served on various boards and committees within his church. He was also a member of the Board of Moncton Community Chaplaincy, O.M.F., Shantymen Ministry and the Red Sea Mission. Hubert had a keen eye for precision, enjoyed carpentry, working on cars, inventing ways to make things work better, and spending precious time with his family. Hubert will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Violet (Murray); children, Margaret Worthington (Ward), Nobleford, AB, Nancy Carson (Brendan), Saint John, Robert Archibald (Cindy), Paris, ON, Esther Flanagan (Clarence), Moncton, Rodney Archibald (Lisa), Riverview; grandchildren, Katherine, Justin, Meagan, Stephanie, Eric, Kyle, Nicole, Alicia, Caleb, Matthew, Ryan, Lauren, Nathan; brother, Gerald, Moncton; sister, Sylvia Wood, Riverview; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Irving.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, March 19, 2010, 11:00 am, Rev. Dr. Martin Kreplin officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment, Pine Hill Cemetery, Salisbury.
