NICKERSON, Barbara Cecelia – 68, Little River Harbour, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, with her family at her side. Born January 5, 1942 in Comeau’s Hill, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Olive (Nickerson) Saulnier. Barbara was a homemaker and a generous caregiver, and she will certainly be remembered as a friend to all. She enjoyed traveling and watching movies and especially loved spending time at Deep Cove with her husband of 18 years, Edward Nickerson. Besides Edward, she is also survived by her children, Greg Newell, Dartmouth; Susan (Milton) Surette, Darling’s Lake; Ricky (Audrey) Newell, Dartmouth, as well as by her step-children, Donna (Gregory) LeBlanc, Wedgeport; Jocelyn Nickerson, Centreville; Kathy (Vernon) Corporon, Wedgeport; and grandchildren, Andrea, Heather and Gregory; step-grandchildren, Jason, Jacques, Gilles, Joshua, Jocelyne, Trisha, Tristan and Tessa; a step-great granddaughter, Chloe. Also surviving are her sister, Eileen (Lawrence) DeViller, Brazil Lake, and brothers, Wayne (Gloria) Saulnier, Melbourne and Timmy Saulnier, Yarmouth, as well as a sister-in-law, Georgette Saulnier, Pinkney’s Point. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Edgar Newell, and a brother, Jackie Saulnier. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and again from 7 to 9 Tuesday, with prayers at 8 p.m, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Melbourne. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau Fund or to a charity of choice.
