Peacefully, in his 80th year, surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s Hospital on Thursday, March 18, 2010.
Born Aug. 9, 1930, in Sydney, N.S., to Anne MacIsaac and Joseph Connolly.
Loving husband and best friend for 55 years to Mary Kathleen (nee Gallant). Cherished father of Jim (Esther Enns), Michael (Cathie), Denise (Joe) Woynillowicz, Deb (Jamie Gibson) and Blaine (Pat). Adored granddad to Christopher Disher, Kyle, Beth, Bridget and Darcy Connolly, Amanda (Scott Downey) and Mark Woynillowicz, Sarah Rathwell, Natasha and Kaitlyn Connolly. Special brother to Eileen Gillis, Pat Connolly (Bette), Louise Whitehead (Larry), Barbara Matheson, Anne Culligan, and Fr. Owen Connolly. Brother-in-law to Leah Connolly, Jean-Louis Houle, Sr. Sarah Gallant, Gerald Gallant and James (Chris) Gallant. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brother, John and sister, Kathleen ‘Kaye,’ brothers-in-law, Murray Matheson, Paddy Gillis, David Lahey, Wilfred Campbell and Joseph Culligan and sisters-in-law, Monica Lahey, Anna Campbell and Margaret Houle.
Dennis enjoyed his 29 years at CKCO-TV and his active involvement in Knights of Columbus, K-W Musical Productions, St. Vincent de Paul Society and many other community organizations.
Dennis’s family will welcome relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467, Monday, March 22, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. The funeral mass for Dennis will be held at St. Mark’s RC Parish (Driftwood Drive, Kitchener), Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 11 a.m., Fr. Owen Connolly and Fr. Adrian Lee officiating. Cremation will follow.
A very heartfelt and warm thank you to the fifth floor nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Dr. Fielder for their compassionate support.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
