Whitney, Myrtis May - 87, formerly of Halls Harbour, Kings County, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the Wolfville Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for many years. Born in Sheffield Mills, she was a daughter of the late Radway and Iona (Legge) Hutt. She had been employed as a sales clerk, working at Webster’s Jewelry and the Port Williams Grocery. She enjoyed sewing, music and step dancing. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lewis Whitney; two sisters, Lois (Raymond) Crandall and Donna Hutt, both of New Minas; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gloria Allen, Muriel Fraser and Wanetta Ward; a brother, Worrie. Visitation was held from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, Reverend Michael Shreve officiated. Burial took place in the West Halls Harbour Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice.
