Goodine, Gerald Aaron - Gerald A. Goodine of Bear Island, NB, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the age of 99. Born at Bear Island, NB on February 3, 1911, he was the son of the late Simon and Hattie (Price) Goodine. Gerald is survived by his wife, Doris; four sons, Edward (Polly), Roy (Priscilla), Pat (Lisa) and Mike (Julie), all of Bear Island; three daughters, Joyce Brown (George), Ontario, Mary Moffatt (Dwight) and Hattie Stickles (John), both of Fredericton; step-sons, Daniel St. Louis (Darla), Moncton and Pierre St. Louis; seventy-five grandchildren and great grandchildren; five step-children and several step-grandchildren in the USA as well as several nieces and nephews. Gerald is also survived by a special cousin, Eileen Gill of Hainesville and Albert's special friend, Andrea Dolan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his nine children, Mona (McGrath) Goodine; his second wife, Anna (Boudreau/St. Louis) Goodine; two sons Kenneth Charles Goodine and Albert Franklin Goodine; a grandson, Brian Albert; a great grandchild, Crystal Bryan; three brothers, Albert, Roy and Dow Goodine and a special cousin Mabel McNally. Gerald and his sons established Goodine's Poultry Farm in Bear Island, NB where he raised poultry, beef and dairy. He was Past President of the Hereford Association and was one of the first market vendors at the Boyce Market in Fredericton. Gerald's passion was race horses with his horses racing in Fredericton and Saint John, NB, PEI, Nova Scotia and Florida.
Visitation will take place at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Church, 199 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Brennan officiating. Interment will be later at St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Gerald, the family has suggested the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
