Émile R. "Swede" Hébert, 90, passed away suddenly at home in Shediac on Sunday, April 4, 2010. Born January 26, 1920 in Shediac, he was the son of the late Willie and Élodie (Richard) Hébert. Émile was a veteran of WWII, who served his country in various locations in Europe, including Germany and Holland. He was a truck driver with L.R. McDonald and Sons until his retirement and a member of the Boishébert Club. Émile enjoyed travelling, fishing and was an avid card player, always looking for a good game of cards. Tony) Landry, both of Shediac; nephews Donald (Suzanne) Simon of Belœil, QC, Paul (Sharon) Simon of Shediac and Roger Simon of Cap aux Meules, Iles-de-la-Madeleine, QC; nieces Huguette (Guy) Poirier of Shediac River, Liane (Gail Wright) Landry of Grande-Digue, Nicole (Rocky Price) Simon and Liette (Paul) Ouellette, both of Shediac; several great nieces and nephews; one step-son Ronald (Diane) Miron of Owen Sound, ON; and two step-daughters Constance (Murray) Elder and Viviane (Benno) Kubeck, both of Saint-Sauveur, QC; as well as 13 step-grandchildren and 19 step-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Enise "Elsie" Landriault-Miron; two brothers Gérard and Ronald "Buck"; one sister Germaine Poirier; two step-sons Reginald and Percy; and special friend Pélagie "Peggy" Boudreau.
At Émile's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. Cremation under the direction of Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St, Shediac (532-3297).
