Mr. Lorne C. Burry, 59, of Fayetteville, NC, died 01/25/2008 at his home. He was born in Greenspond, Newfoundland, Canada on Oct. 20, 1948. He acquired an associate degree in business and worked for the Purolator Filter Co. for 33 years performing a variety of engineering and management responsibilities. In 1991 he moved from Toronto, Canada to Fayetteville, NC, USA, where he worked as a manufacturing plant manager for Purolator until his retirement in 2006. Over his lifetime Mr. Burry was a sport enthusiast who excelled in hockey, softball, and racquetball. Other hobbies included carpentry, landscaping and reading. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., 01/28/2008, in Haymount United Methodist Church with the Rev. Woody Wells officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Mr. Burry is survived by his wife Connie Honeycutt Burry, Fayetteville, NC; sons: David Trites, New York, Michael Burry (Debbie) Toronto, Canada, and Christopher Burry (Amy), Toronto, Canada; three grandchildren: Noah, Alyssa and Kaleigh; mother Clara Burry, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada; brother David Burry (Lorraine) Greenspond, Newfoundland, Canada; sisters Grace White, Lorette Jenkins (Herbert), Rowena Murphy (Peter), St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, sister Audrey Butler (Walter), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lorne was preceded in death by his father Noah Burry, St. John's, Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Eye Tumor Research Foundation, "The Path to Life and Sight Fund," P.O. Box 832, Philadelphia, PA 19105 or The Haymount United Methodist Church, 1700 Fort Bragg Road, Fayetteville, NC, 28303, or charity of their choice. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayettevlle, NC.
