NEW GLASGOW - Cornelius (Casey) Willemse of New Glasgow, passed away April 8, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Oss, Netherlands, November 23, 1940, he was predeceased by his parents, Theodores and Cornelia (DeKadt) Willemse, and older sister, Josephine DeHaan.
Casey had served with the Queens Own Rifles of Canada 1957-1963 in Europe. He was employed with the Ford Motor Company, Oakville, ON, and Michelin Canada, Granton, NS.
He is survived by a son, Stephen, New Glasgow, NS; daughter, Karen, Ontario; loving partner, Kaye; sisters: Nellie (Rene) Tax, Jean VanGrunsvin, Thea (Tony) Kurz, Louise (Jack) Pete; brothers, Girard, Chris (Dee), Theodores, Ontario and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, USA and the Netherlands.
Casey loved to garden and loved driving the taxi. Casey was owner operator of Safeway Taxi for 10 years. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 28, Stellarton, and was past president of the Hopewell Legion.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the request of the deceased. A public memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Riverton Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
