The passing of Byard "Iodine" Charles Peterson, of Fredericton, occurred on April 8, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 23, 1941, he was a son of Marion (McLaughlin) and the late Byard Peterson.
Byard worked for NB Power for 17 years and attended Greenwood Drive Baptist Church. He was community oriented with a passion for taking pictures. In particular he enjoyed taking pictures of local hockey and ball teams. Byard was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan as well. He had documented a photo history of Barker's Point and recently enjoyed trips on the city's trails on his scooter.
In addition to his mother, Byard is survived by his sister, Barb Hillman and her children Wendy (Jim) Bird, Lori (Stewart) Saunders, Linda Hillman, Cindy (Jay) Cunningham, Patty (Myles) Harris and Barbara Hillman; brother, Max (Ellen) Peterson and his children Jeffrey (Roberta) Peterson and Jamie Peterson; brother, Richard "Dick" (Debra) Peterson and his children, Luke Peterson (Marie-Andreé Somers) and Jill Peterson (Chris Jonah); sister-in-law, Viola Peterson and her son Derek Peterson; special great nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Byard was predeceased by two brothers, Allan and Jerome; brother-in-law, Neil Hillman; and an infant sister, Marilyn.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Saturday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 1 pm with Rev. Harold Arbo officiating. Interment will take place in Marysville Baptist Extension Cemetery.
