The passing of Celia (Binns) Schriver, wife of Maynard Schriver, of Countrywood Lane, occurred on April 8, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on February 4, 1926 in Bradford, England, she was a daughter of the late James and Catherine (Johnson) Binns. Celia worked side by side with her first husband, Mel Schriver, with Co-op Insurance Company. From 1974 to 1992 she partnered with her daughter, Cathy, in Reid & Schriver Electrolysis. One of her first jobs was at the age of 14 in an ammunition factory in England. Celia was a member of Greenwood Drive Baptist Church where she was very involved in the music committee, choir, the Willing Hands and the clothing bank.
Besides her husband, Maynard, she is survived by her daughters, Cathy Reid (Tom) of Fredericton, Cindy Talbot (Steve) of Truro, NS; step-daughters, Barb Schriver of Australia, Angela Costabile (Gino) of Cayuga, ON and Beth Dempsey (Warren) of Fredericton; step-son, Allison Schriver (Ann Marie) of Fredericton; granddaughters, Heather Jill Reid Case (Chris), Tracy Dawn Talbot (Jason Sheppard) and Rebecca Joan LaPointe (Iain); step grandchildren, Matthew, Kristina, Nicholas Costabile; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Samuel Morehouse, Sarah Robyn Sheppard, Isaac Leroy LaPointe; three sisters, Joan Taylor (George), Dora Yates and Emily Hill all of England. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Andrew Reid.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Saturday from 2 to 5. A Funeral Service will be held from Greenwood Drive Baptist Church on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 4 pm with Rev. Harold Arbo officiating. Pallbearers are Donald Bruce, Chris Case, Glen Carle, Jacob Morehouse, Richard Schriver and Robert Schriver. Interment will take place at Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to Gideons International or the Kenya Water Project at Greenwood Drive Baptist Church would be appreciated.
