RIVERTON - Thelma Joyce MacDonald, age 95, of Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away April 8, 2010, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late John MacKenzie and Jessie Ellen (MacDonald) Brown.
She had been a resident of Huntley Court and Spring St. in New Glasgow before moving to Valley View Villa. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by son, John Ronald (Florence), Bedford; daughters: Ruth Hackel (Ron), Milton, ON; Joyce MacLean (Don), New Glasgow; Cathy (Treen) Garrett, New Glasgow; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren one great-great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred James MacDonald; brothers: Ernie, Charles, Don, Jack, Clifford, Murdock; sisters: Kate, Hilda, Chris, Mary and Lucy.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the request of the deceased. A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
