It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Imelda Sparkes announce her passing on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Interfaith Home For Seniors at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 62 years Harry Sparkes; children: Kareyn (Blain) Hughes, Mary Sparkes and John (Tracy) Sparkes; her beloved granddaughter Erin Sparkes; sister Valerie (Kevin) Pumphrey, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Hayes, sisters Bernice Tomasco and Bertha Yeager, brothers Joseph and Thomas Hayes. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows' Parish, Humber Road with Father Ambrose Hynes, Father Gordon Grace and Monsignor Jim Robertson officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.
