Aubrey Thomas Perley was born on February 16th, 1928 in Tobique First Nation to the late Julia Thomas & Peter Perley. He passed away on April 17th, 2010 at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital in Perth-Andover at the age of 82. He was the eldest of 10 children, and was predeceased by his brothers, Merle Perley, Ivan Perley, Donald Perley, Hazen Perley, Bobby Perley, and sisters Evelyn Sappier and Anne-Marie Francis, as well as two sons and a daughter, Claudie Perley, Dean Perley, and Mona Perley. He leaves behind two sisters, Mary Perley, and Marilyn Nicholas and nine children, Sharon & Reg Traugh, Carla & Nick (deceased) Paul, Hart Perley & Tony Bear, Dana Perley & Sandra Francis, Julie Perley, Aubrey Dean Perley & Dora Pisarek, Suanne Perley, Michelle Perley, Erica Perley & Denis Doucet, 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Aubrey was a loving & devoted father, beloved brother & a much respected elder of Tobique First Nation. He was a prominent figure in his community, fiercely independent & had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in woods with his best friend William Fraser. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
The wake will be held at his residence, 9 New Road in Tobique First Nation, on Wednesday and Thursday April 21st and 22nd. The funeral service will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tobique First Nation on Friday, April 23rd at 2pm. Aubrey touched many lives throughout his years & will deeply be missed by all who knew him.
