Barry Eugene Smith of Caledonia, N.S. passed away peacefully at Gables Lodge Nursing Home in Amherst N.S. on April 19, 2010. Born on June 8, 1960 in Liverpool, N.S., he was the son of Clifford Smith (deceased) and Mary Smith (Harmony Mills, N.S). He is survived by his mother Mary Smith (South Brookfield, N.S); brother, Wayne Leon Smith,(Bridgewater, N.S); sister, Catherine (Smith) Bowman, (Old Orchard Beach, Maine); sister, Shelley Marie Smith (Liverpool, N.S.); uncle, Grant Smith (Harmony Mills, N.S.); aunt, Bonnie Smith(Harmony Mills, N.S.) nephew, Roger Smith (Bridgewater, N.S.); niece, Stephanie Fancy ( Westfield, N.S.); great nephews, Jacob Fancy (Westfield, N.S.), Drake Smith (Bridgewater, N.S.), Aaron Giles (Dartmouth N.S. and great niece, Brooke Smith (Bridgewater, N.S. Barry was involved in a near fatal car accident in the early 1980's that left him without the gift of speech or mobility, and had since he has remained under the loving long term care of staff members at Gables Lodge Nursing Home of whom all came to love him dearly over the past 24 years. Barry was well known for his carefree, fun loving spirit of youth that he continued to display throughout the entirety of his life. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (667-8777).
