On April 26th, 2010, Richard passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital with his wife Charlotte (Madore) by his side. In addition to Charlotte, Richard was survived by his son Jason (Lori), his two brothers, Gary (Mary) and Peter (Kim) and his nieces Chelsey, Linda and nephew Colin. He is also survived by his step-mother Valerie Hird. Richard was predeceased by his father, Albert Hird and his mother Daisy Hird.
We will all miss Richard's quick smile that would make you feel like everything was going to be alright. His home was open to anyone, at anytime. He was first to give a helping hand to a new co-worker, neighbour or whenever an opportunity arose to help out, Richard was there. Thanks to Richard for the fun times. We love you and miss you. Richard worked for ADI Limited for 43 years. We would like to thank ADI and all the employees for their generosity and support during Richard's illness. At Richard's request there will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery, Woodstock Road on Friday, April 30th at 3:00 PM. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
