The passing of Maxine E. King (nee McKiel) of Lower Hainesville, NB, wife of the late Jerome King, occurred on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Maxine was born on March 16, 1927 in Fredericton, NB. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Woodworth) McKiel. She resided with her aunt and uncle, Melva and Jim Elliott during her childhood years. Maxine was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many. She loved visits from her family where she always blessed them with a smile and never failed to tell them she loved them. She loved her Lord and Saviour and served Him through her many years of dedicated service at the Lower Hainesville Wesleyan Church, where she was an active member for most of her life. Maxine was very fond of animals, especially her 'grand-dogs'. She spent the early part of her married life raising her seven children and working on the family farm. Maxine also worked as housekeeper in Fredericton until she returned to school in 1980 and received her Homemaker Certificate. She worked as a Red Cross Homemaker until her retirement in 1991. Maxine is survived by her seven children, Vena King, Burtts Corner, Dale King (Joyce), Harvey, Bonnie King, Judy Lemon (Terry), Sherry King, all of Fredericton, Annette Crouse (Mark), Burtts Corner and Dwight King (Sheila), Lower Hainesville; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; her sister, Glenna Gardiner (Paul) and her twin sister, Marty Thomas (Ian); a sister-in-law, Nina King; brother-in-law, Harold King and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Elsie, Betty and Julia and three brothers, Lester, Merle and Bob.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Wednesday, May 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer and Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. Interment at the Lower Hainesville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andrew King (Sheila), Bradley King, Rodney Crouse, Joel Lemon, son-in-law, Mark Crouse and grandson-in-law, Jody Hanson. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren, Wendy Crouse (Nick Bowes), Susan King, Michelle King, Nichole Haley (John), Katie Lemon, Laura Crouse, Melanie Crouse, Jenna Hanson (Jody), Jillian Chute and Emma Chute. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Maxine, the family has suggested the Lower Hainesville Wesleyan Church, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Fredericton SPCA.
