Madeline Mary Hammond (nee Broderick)

Passed peacefully away on May 31, 2010, at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of her loving family and with the graceful demeanour that defined how she lived her life, Madeline Hammond, aged 80 years. Born in St. Brendan's, raised her family in Portugal Cove, and in her later years moved to Rutledge Manor in St. John's. She was predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter Darlene, parents Margaret and Patrick Broderick, brother Bernard and sister Catherine. Left to celebrate her life and loving memories are two daughters: Linda (Bill) Rose and Charlotte (Bud) Butler, Portugal Cove; two sons: Patrick (Carolyn) Hammond, Goulds and Albert Jr. (Anne Reid) Hammond, Port Perry, ON. Also sharing theses memories are her sisters: Laura Wheeler, British Columbia and Dorothy (John) Laite, Mount Pearl; brothers: Hughie (Jessie) Broderick, Toronto and Cyril (Roseann) Broderick, Toronto; sisters-in-law: Mary Hammond, Portugal Cove, Laura Squires, St. Philip's and Marina Broderick, St. John's; grandchildren: Darlene, Nicole, Christopher, Stephen, Natasha, Dawn, Melissa and Shane; great-grandchildren: Shauna and Tyler as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday, June 1st from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 2nd from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10 a.m. from Holy Rosary Church, Portugal Cove. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to take place on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Portugal Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
