Before moving to London seven years ago to be with her adored daughters and their families, Peggy was an active member of St. Joseph Church as a choir member and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was passionate and kindhearted with her volunteering at the Northside Guest Home.
When she made the move to London she was missed by many friends who remembered her fondly as a happy and outgoing person who always gave a helping hand to others. Her treasured and devoted best friend Peggy Wilkie flew to London to surprise her for Mom’s 70th birthday party with her family.
Peggy is survived by her oldest daughter, Beth and husband, Brian Kelly; her middle daughter, Ann (Wolfe) and husband Irwin Zaifman; her youngest daughter, Bonnie and husband, Tim Burden. Peggy is also survived by five sisters and one brother, Kay (John) MacEachern, Port Hawkesbury, Regis (late Tom) Cameron, Monica (Brian) Shebib, Tommy Burke, all of North Sydney, Georgie (Vince) Muise, Marie (late Peter) Romeo, both of Sydney and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Teresa (late Tom) MacKinnon, Vaughan (late Graham) Bagnell; three brothers, Joseph (Vivian) Burke, Lloyd (Sharon) Burke and Michael Burke.
Mom’s wish to be cremated has already taken place in London. A funeral mass for Peggy will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. A reception will follow immediately after the funeral mass with Peggy’s family and friends and all are welcome to attend.
