It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard Brake announce his passing on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Corner Brook, at the age of 85 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Glenda Wall (Gary), Glen Sullivan (Sandra), Monty Sullivan (Janet); special granddaughter Kayla Wall who spent many hours comforting her grandfather during his illness; special friend, Shirley Sullivan; stepchildren: Tony Sullivan (Peggy) and Maureen McCarthy (Kevin); 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; children: Reginald Brake, Marion Duke, Wanda Stevens, Linda Day and Lana Reese; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ellen Brake; brothers: William, Francis, Owen, Ralph, Llewelyn and Howard; sisters: Mame, Marie, Genevieve and Lole. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints' Anglican Church, Clarence Street, with Rev. Derek Thomas officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit or the Cancer Clinic at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
