Kenneth Wayne Green, 60, of Sydney passed away Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Alex and Frances (Miles) Green.
Ken was a man who valued his relationship with his creator, Jehovah and served actively with the North Sydney Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses. He loved to read, work on stained glass and fish for trout. He was not a tall man, but his qualities of courage, determination, perseverance, and humour made him a giant of a man in the eyes of those who knew him. He made a lasting impression on all he met. Ken was a graduate of Sydney Academy. He was previously employed at Miller Rentals, and before that he worked for Stephen's Building Supplies.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Caroline (Temple); daughter, Angie (Vernon); grandchildren, Bryson, Nathan and Miranda Green. He also leaves behind his brother, George (Leone), Sydney; sister, Frances Green, Ontario; mother-in-law, Rachel Smith; sister-in-law, Sylvia Green; brother-in-law, John Nicholson; nieces and nephews, Robby, Kelly, Trevor, Jason and David; as well as spiritual Father to Joe and Paul McLean.
Ken was predeceased by his sister, Betty Nicholson, and brother, Melvin.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A service will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 786 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Mr. John Francis officiating. Interment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Following the burial there will be a reception at the Kingdom Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watchtower Society or Kidney Foundation.
