It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our sister, Margaret Joyce 'Sis' (MacDougall) Walker. Joyce (or Sis as we called her) succumbed to the ravages of early onset dementia on Feb. 26, 2010.
Sis was a vibrant person, with a deep love of everything going on around her. She believed that in order to make a difference, you must be involved in your community, which she did in her community of Amherst, N.S.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Wayne, Amherst; her boys, Bruce and Michael (whom she loved and proudly bragged about) and several grandchildren, whom she adored. Sis is also survived by her siblings, Bernie MacDougall, North Sydney, Harold MacDougall, Fredericton, Diane Phillipo, North Sydney, Roxanne Benfer, St. Paul, Missouri, Judy MacDougall, North Sydney, Valerie Patterson, Ross Ferry, Russell MacDougall, Kellowna, B.C. and Paul MacDougall, Sydney Mines.
Sis was predeceased by her mother and father, Blanche and Bernie MacDougall; her brother, Brian and her baby sister, Holly (MacDougall) Simm.
Nobody loved life more than Sis. She did the best she could for her family, her community and her country. She made a difference in this world.
A private memorial service will be held in her honour on July 27, 2010 in her chosen home town of Amherst.
