On May 14th, 2010 at Joseph Creek Care Village in Cranbrook, B.C., Henry passed away peacefully.

He was born in Dog Creek, B.C. to Quinn and Emma Abel. Henry worked as a ranch hand in the Merritt area and worked the gang ranch in Williams Lake. He later joined the Calgary Highlanders and served on the front lines overseas in WWII.

Henry was married to his first wife Lynn Insnardy in 1945, they resided in the Nicola Valley and they had four children Rodney, Duane, Virginia and Debbie. Henry came to work for the Department of Highways and the Parks Branch in Merritt and he became the Supervisor of Monck Park.

In 1984, Henry met his true love Rose and they were married in Kamloops. He retired in 1986, and together they spent their days traveling all over Canada and the USA in their home on wheels.

Henry is predeceased by his soul mate Rose, his parents Quinn and Emma, sisters Dora and Leila, his first wife Lynn, his daughter Virginia and son-in-law Joe. Henry will be forever missed and loved by his brother Marvin (Verna) Abel, Stella (Johannes) Post and his children Rodney (Pat) Abel, Duane Abel, Debbie Janek, Sharon (Lorne) Qually, his grandchildren Quinn (Loretta), Jimmy, Dawn (Mike), Shannon (Glenn), Tanya (Chamus), Trevor (Tracey), Derek (Caroline), Corrine (Rob), Denise (Kenton) as well as one special niece Sharon Henderson and nephew Curtis McNally and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will take place in the Schoening Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Maione officiating.

Should friends desire, donations to the Alzheimer Society of BC, #300 - 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C., V5Z 1E2 in memory of Henry would be appreciated.
