BOURQUE, Vernon - 70, Hamilton, ON, formerly of Yarmouth Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vern with family by his side at McMaster Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario on July 1, 2010. Born in Sluice Point, Yarmouth Co., he was the son of F. Bernard and the late Emilie G. (Muise) Bourque. Loving husband of Melanie, father of Rick (Brenda) Bourque, Bradford, ON; Gale Smith, Yarmouth and stepfather to Patti (Rick), Jarvis, ON; Chris (Christine), Dundas, ON and Grampie to 11 grandchildren. Brother of Gordon (Elaine) Medford, MA; Marlene (Gordon) Wood, Tusket; Lee, Sluice Point. He was very fond of his Tante Claire Bourque, Tusket. He was predeceased by his son Wayne, his mother and brother Wayne. Vern leaves behind many family members and friends in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Vern was very active in a number of Hamilton organisations; he was past Grand Master of I.O.O.F., past President of the Legion, past President of District 4 Ontario Moose Association, past President of S.S.E. Council of Higher Degree and also past Governor of Loyal Order of Moose. A memorial service will be held at MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East, Hamilton, on July 17 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McMaster University Medical Centre or charity of choice.
