Christina Catherine O'Brien - 94, formerly of Montreal and Calgary, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Eva (Mackelman) Murray. In her earlier years, she was employed with Sears as well as a library in Montreal. While living in Montreal, she was also involved with the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, having served as a president. Affectionately known as "Teenie" and "Nannie Teenie" to her grandchildren, she had a great love for her family and was extremely proud of them. She is survived by two daughters, Maureen (Keith) Gibbon, Aylesford Lake; Dianne O'Brien, Vancouver; two sons, Gary (Loretta), Calgary; Patrick (Susan), Edmonton; a daughter-in-law, Judi, Vancouver; two sisters, Evelyn (Charles) Young, Toronto; Audrey Law, Montreal; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kim, Kathy, Tracey, Christie, Tim and Shawn; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis "Pat"; a sister, Viola. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. with prayers held at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Montreal. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville Nursing Home or the charity of your choice.
