Rose Anne Gouthro, 93, of Petit Etang, died July 30, 2010 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Edouard and Cecile (Camus) LeBlanc.
She worked as a seamstress for many years at Schwartz & Co., New Waterford. Upon her retirement in 1969, she returned to her native Cheticamp, where she opened the first soft ice cream parlour in the area. She welcomed many visitors in her home and enjoyed serving her company some of her fresh baked goods. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by two sons, Edward 'Eddie', Cheticamp, Garfield (Sharon) Shelburne; daughters, Della (Tommy Aucoin), Bedford, Adele (Alphonse Larade), Fredericton; brothers, Georgie (Diane), Sydney, Harry (Gloria), Belle Côte, Joe (Lucie), Cheticamp; four sisters, Elizabeth (Willie MacDougall), Sydney, Dorothy (Tommy Lynk), Catalone, Edith Chiasson, Sydney, Victoire Chiasson, Cheticamp; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Gouthro; brothers, Wilfred, Angus, Neil, Didace; sisters, Hilda Romard, Annie Rose Pino, Marie Emma Aucoin, Evelyn Aucoin and Della Aucoin.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp, Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, Cheticamp. A celebration of life will follow the mass with a reception and light luncheon served.
