Surrounded by his family, Jack Mabie of Dumfries, NB passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the age of 73. Jack was born in Dumfries, to the late Ervil and Sybilla (Carlin) Mabie and was affiliated with the Anglican Church. Jack and his wife Arleigh have been well known as the Owner/Operators of the Moonlight Motel and Restaurant in Dumfries for over 34 years. Jack had a love for horses and spent much of his free time with his horses. He was a member of the Atlantic Canadian and American Apaloosa Club. Jack is also remembered for his community service and kindness to seniors volunteering for a number of years with the Meals on Wheels and Wheels to Meals programs. He is survived by his wife Arleigh (Dickison); sons Peter Mabie (Rose), Dana Mabie (Susan) all of Dumfries, Mark Mabie (Jill) of Prince William; daughter Heather Bradley (Harold) of Saint John; chosen daughter Ashley (Corey Johnson) of Dumfries; sisters Rita Mills (Bob) of Fredericton, Eleanor Moorcroft (Aword) of Pokiok, Paddy Mabie of Nackawic; sister-in-law Elaine Mabie of Dumfries; 13 grandchildren Evan, Jacob, Brett, Ally, Colby, Alex, Jaden, Halanna, Halley, Hudson, Houston, Hadashah, and Harmonie; six step grandchildren Erica, Brandon, Christopher, Justin, Amber and Tanner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by a brother Paul in 2002.
Visitation is at St. Clement's Anglican Church in Dumfries, NB on Friday August 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, with the Funeral service being held at the Church on Saturday August 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Borthwick officiating. Interment will be at the Barony Cemetery.
