Gordon Joseph Strong, 65, of Hill Street passed away unexpectedly, with family at his side, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Lou and Evelyn Strong.
Gordon was self-employed in the fishing industry; he was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Violet 'Sissy'; sons, Kurt (Sabrina) and Leonard (Hilda); grandchildren, Renee, Kurt Justin, Trevor and Cody; brothers, Gary 'Doc' (Valerie), Bruce (Helen) and Lewellyn (Carol).
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by granddaughter, Jessica.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry's Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Leo's Church, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
Donations in Gordon's memory are suggested to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
