Melvin D.R. 'Bip' MacPhail, 70, St. Peter's, Richmond County, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Oban, he was the son of the late Hugh and Catherine (MacLeod) MacPhail.
Melvin passed away shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberley (Russel) Carter and Angela (Terrance) Bona and son, Shane (Stephen) MacPhail and three grandchildren, whom he adored, Kyla Carter, Shalyn Bona and Ashlyn Bona. They will greatly miss their grampy Bippy. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon (Angus) MacDonald, Jean (the late Warren) Penny, Joan (the late Ernie) Fougere and brothers, Wayne (Nancy) MacPhail, Winston (Anna) MacPhail, Wendell MacPhail, Sherman (Cheryl) MacPhail and John (Peggy) MacPhail.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Jessie (Amos) Sampson, Betty (Peter) Woodlock and Eva-Belle, brother, Calvin, a brother and sister in infancy.
Resting today (Wednesday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in River Bourgeois Funeral Parlor. Funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's United Church with Rev. Murdock MacRae presiding. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, St. Peter's.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's United Church.
