Age 49, of Nashville, passed away peacefully at her home on June 5, 2009, surrounded by her devoted partner and caring friends. Cate studied music at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, and participated many summers in the New Hampshire Music Festival. A member of the Nashville music community for nearly 20 years, Cate was a violinist with the Nashville String Machine, performed with the Nashville Symphony, and was much loved as a local performer in many venues. She had a kind heart, an adventurous spirit, and a gentle soul. She loved exploring new places and being outdoors and was a loyal friend to many. But above all, Cate was a devoted mother to her two children, Thomas and Daniel, who will always hold her loving spirit in their hearts. Cate is preceded in death by her father, William Myer, and her aunt, Lily Behl. She is survived by her partner, Jennifer Smith, and their two sons, Thomas Colby Myer and Daniel Ellis Myer; her mother, Gertrude Myer, of Hunter River, Prince Edward Island; brothers, Nicholas (Brenda) Myer, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Paul Myer of Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Chris (Rose) Myer of Allenhurst, N.J.; sister, Laura Myer of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, Brigid (Craig Dorey) McWhirter and Hannah Myer of Dartmouth, N.S.; nephews, Matthew Myer of Halifax, N.S.; and Stephen Myer of Allenhurst, N.J.; cousin Peter (Ruth) Beyl of Woodstock, N.Y., and many other family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, from 4-8 p.m. at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1219 Second Ave. South, Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gilda’s Club Nashville or the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. WOODLAWN-ROESCH-PATTON FUNERAL HOME.
