Mrs. Dorothy McFee, of Rimbey, Alberta, passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Area Two, Rimbey, on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Dorothy was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, on September 30, 1923.
At the age of 17 years, she joined the W.A.A.F., the women's division of the Royal Air Force, and served for four years during WWII. She met and married Pilot Officer John McFee from Intervale, New Brunswick in October, 1944. Dorothy came to Canada as a war bride widow in May, 1945, and her son, David, was born in September, 1945. Dorothy married her brother-in-law, Nelson McFee, in December, 1945, and their son, Wayne, was born in March of 1947. Dorothy, and her husband and family, travelled a lot in Canada, the United States, and England while Nelson was a member of the R.C.A.F. After Nelson retired from the Air Force, they settled in Vancouver for the next 20 years. In 1989, they then moved to Red Deer where they resided for several years, and Dorothy moved to Rimbey shortly after her husband of 57 years passed away in July, 2006. Dorothy has been a contributing member to the SPCA in all the cities in which she has lived for the last 55 years. Due to her generous donations, she will have a Cap Nap Suite named in her honour in Red Deer.
Dorothy will be loving remembered and sadly missed by her sons, David (Mary) McFee, of Rimbey, and Wayne (Margo) McFee, of Vancouver, BC; as well as four cherished grandchildren, Karen McFee (Jason Raemer), of Pine Lake, and their twin daughters, Summer Marie and Autumn Rose; Jonathan (Becky) McFee, of Edmonton, and their children, Daniel and Abigail; Kevin (Amy) McFee, of Vancouver, BC; and Karson McFee, also of Vancouver, BC. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her niece, Leslie (Mike) Recker; and her sister, Bernice Wilson, all of Ontario.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, John; and her second husband, Nelson.
With respect for Dorothy's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
