Florence Bernice Oakley, 72 of Mira Road, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Scaterie Island, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary (Kennedy) Wadden.
Florence was a member of the Mira Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Immaculate Heart parish, Mira Road. Florence was a very kind and gentle person and loved to have a good time with her many friends and her card friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Howard; three daughters, Maureen (Vince) Corsaro, Arlene and Kim; her five sons, Carl, Howie, Leonard, Lance (Carolyn), Kenny (Tracey); sisters, Violet (late Alfred Cadden), Hazel, Theresa, Joan (John Allan) MacKay, Peggy (Billy) Morris; brothers, Michael (Margie), Aubrey (Jeanette); sisters-in-law, Pauline, Mabel, Bonnie, Jean and brother-in-law, Albert Clements; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott), Christopher, Amanda, Jeffrey, Travis, Kyle, Jamey, Dylan, Jason; three great-grandchildren, Bryden, Andrea, Owen and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Carmel, Doreen and Sally; six brothers, Roddie, Reg, Howard, Dave, Stanley and Tony; brothers-in-law, Gordon Cameron and Ernie Williams..
Visitation for the late Mrs. Oakley will take place today (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart Church, Mira Road with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating.
