James Arthur Payne, 72, formerly of Mira, passed away on Oct. 20, 2010 in Bedford, N.S.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Arthur and the late Muriel (Turner) Payne.
In 1956, Jim joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in British Columbia, and later attended Mount Saint Allison University. In 1965, he began his career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He retired in 1990 after 25 years of service.
Jim enjoyed life on the Mira until moving to Kingswood Residence in Hammonds Plains where he lived peacefully under the excellent care of Kris and Mariola Ganski.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer, Bedford, James (Dorothy), Halifax and John, Cheticamp; his grandchildren, Aiden, Conal, Sam and Jack and his brothers, Ernie (Beverly), Bedford, Arthur (Ursula), Toronto, Ont. and Gary, Mazatlan, Mexico and many nieces and nephews.
A private gathering for family and friends will be held in Bedford. A service in Sydney will be held at a later date.
