It is with sadness that the family of Odilas Joseph Chevarie announce his passing on October 24, 2010 at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB. Born at St. Charles NB on February 5, 1916, Odilas was a son of Joseph and Alice (Allain) Chevarie and the husband of the late Lydia (Ouellette) Chevarie. He is survived by sons, Joe (Thelma) Chevarie of Summerville, NB; Gerard (Germaine) Chevarie and Maurice (Yvonne) Chevarie, both of Blacks Harbour; daughters, Theresa (Mel) Gaudet, Mary (Ormand) Deveau and Irene Blanchard (late Telex) all of Blacks Harbour; 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; brother, Theodore (Merril) Chevarie; sisters, Delorice (late Laurie) Chevarie, Florida (late Ben) Daigle, Rosanna (late Fidele) Blanchard, Yvonne (Normand) LaPlointe and Mary Ann (late Zoel) Comeau and sisters in law, Suzanne Babineau and Rose Chase. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by sons in law, Allan Gaudett and Telex Blanchard; brothers, Armand, Leonard, Alyre Israel and Vincent; and sisters, Lydia and Nelida.To earn a living for his family, Odilas worked as a woodsman and for many years worked for Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour NB. After retirement he always kept busy and never knew the meaning of "being bored." Besides tending to his garden, fishing and hunting, he always had some kind of invention project on the go.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 11:00 am with Father Paul Doucet officiating followed by the interment at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Odilas' memory to the Fundy Nursing Home or the a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
