Frances B. (Franey) Wilkinson - age 87, a longtime resident of Chelmsford and formerly of Medford, passed away on October 2, 2010, at Wingate at Silver Lake. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur R. Wilkinson who died in 1991. Mrs. Wilkinson was born on July 15, 1923 in Weston, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late Melbourne and Edith (Newcombe) Franey. Frances worked as a school teacher in Nova Scotia before coming to the United States. She was employed in the credit department at Jordan Marsh in Boston and later at Sears in Lowell. She later retired from Lowell General Hospital after working for many years as head cashier in their business office. Frances was a member of the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending winters in Stuart FL. Frances is survived by two sons; Bill and his wife Silvia of Kingston MA, and Peter and his wife Glenda of Cantonment FL; a daughter Margaret Wilkinson of Chelmsford; three grandchildren, Heather Sarabia and her husband Ed, David and his wife Lindsay, and Julie Wilkinson; two great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. She leaves a sister Phyllis Foster of Cambridge Station, Nova Scotia; a brother John Franey and his wife Frances of Aylesford, Nova Scotia and sister-in-law Marjorie Franey of Kentville, Nova Scotia; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Christine Wilkinson who died in 1993, and sister of the late Albert Franey Weston and Philip Franey in infancy. Graveside service was held in Bourne National Cemetery on October 8 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Frances' memory may be made to West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, 242 Main St. N.
