Margaret ‘Peggy’ Genevieve Landry, St. Peter’s passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2010 at the age of 73 at the Strait Richmond Hospital; lovingly surrounded by her family after a short and courageous battle with leukemia.
Born on Nov. 6, 1936 in Lynches River, Richmond County, she was the much loved daughter of the late Daniel Stone and Christina MacNeil.
Peggy will always be remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Cletus; daughters, Anna Ferguson (Ross), St. Peter’s, Maxine Mombourquette (Wade), Chezzetcook, Bonnie Davidson (Harold), St. Peter’s, Colette Boucher (Bradly), Chezzetcook; sons, David (Shirley), Brookside and Aubrey (Wendy), St. Peter’s. Peggy’s pride and joy were her 13 grandchildren, Mindy, Kenneth, Janine, John Angus, Stacy, Jake, Brandan, Megan, Justin, Samantha, Tamara, Dillon and Myles, and her three great-grandchildren, Colton, Ciaran and Reid, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence, Ambrose, Joseph, Ralph, Keith and sister Anne.
Peggy was an active member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, the Women’s PC Association and a long time member of St. Peter’s Lioness Club. Her family will fondly miss her special Sunday dinners and long afternoon card games. The cookie jar was never empty and there was always the sweet aroma of baking when you walked through the door.
Peggy will be resting at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home in St. Peter’s with visitation today, Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral mass at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Peggy’s nurse practitioner, Bonnie Gagnon and the nursing staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
