Evelyn Louise Luterbach (Turgeon)

Born: November 22, 1937
Passed away: November 6, 2010

Evelyn passed away peacefully with grace and dignity at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta with her kids and grandkids by her side. After battling cancer for the past year and teaching her family and friends many lessons along the way, she has started her next journey.

Ev was born in Benson, SK and grew up on the family farm with her two brothers and two sisters. She attended psychiatric nursing school in Weyburn, SK and eventually came to Moose Jaw, SK in 1970 where she worked at Valley View Centre until she retired in 2002. Her career and personal life were focused on helping others, rarely asking for anything for herself along the way. In retirement she spent the majority of her time visiting her kids and spoiling her grandkids. Her interest in quilting grew in her retirement and she spent countless hours sewing, quilting and creating beautiful treasured memories ensuring that every one of her family was touched by one of her quilts. Ev’s legacy incudes her 4 kids, 10 grandkids, 1 great grandchild and the countless people she touched along the way.

In the spring we will be holding a celebration of Ev’s life including a parade of quilts that she made. In memory of Ev please pickup a rock, keep it in your pocket for a few days and think of her when you reach into your pocket. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, any food bank or homeless shelter in your community.
