McCUAIG , Olive Elizabeth (nee Rowat)
July 24, 1914 – November 11, 2010
It is with profound sadness that the family of Olive McCuaig announces her passing at Pioneer Lodge Palliative Care in Moose Jaw. Olive was born to Anna and Robert Rowat near Ogema, Sk. She was the ninth of twelve children, predeceased by all of her family of origin. She was predeceased by her daughter Millie Wolfe (Dec.10, 2008), her beloved grandchildren, Tom Wolfe (Nov.11, 2005) and Barbara Wolfe (Sept. 27, 1984). Olive is survived by her children, Ann Mantei (Gordon), Dave McCuaig (Sherree Wood), and Nancy Howard (John Dixon); her grandchildren Vanessa Weg (Oliver), Daniel Mantei (Stephanie Janke), Ashley Watteyne (Shane), Tavis McCuaig, and Paige Howard; her great-grandchildren Kianna Weg, Aspen and Beckett Watteyne, Tom’s children Jade and Amber Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a very dedicated homemaker and mother. She managed and maintained five rental properties in Swift Current. Well known by her family and friends for her fantastic cooking, home made bread, and hospitality. Mom was active in the Dickson Home and School Assoc. when her children were young and she enjoyed bowling weekly. After moving to Moose Jaw, Olive was one of the first tenants in High Park Tower, where she enjoyed 29 remarkable, independent years. She took great pride and enjoyment in her home. Mom enjoyed lengthy daily long walks until May 1, 2009, at age 94, on her way home from a shopping trip Mom suffered a fall and injured her hip. This was life altering for her. Olive managed to stay strong and faced each obstacle with courage. She was a positive person with an optimistic attitude, as well as a good sense of humour. Special thanks to the Management and Staff at Oxford Place for all the kind, loving, compassionate care and support they gave to Mom during the past year and a half there. She said it was the best home away from home that anyone could have. The family would like to thank the Memory Lane Nurses and Staff at Pioneer Lodge for providing the comforting care to Mom in the final days of her life, she could not have been in better hands. Our mother requested that there be no funeral, but cremation and interment at Warman, Sk. There will be a private family service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society 150 Albert St.N., Regina, S4R 2N2, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated. In living memory of Olive, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
