MacKAY, George Arthur, 87, Shelburne, passed away peacefully at home, 90 Ohio Road, Sunday, November 7, 2010. Born in Hantsport he was a son of the late Grant and Elvia (MacInnes) MacKay. George was a Second World War Veteran and served Overseas from 1942 until 1947. He then began his career as a cabinet maker and was employed by Ven-Rez for 25 years. He built custom church furniture and travelled around the Maritimes doing the installation. He finished his working career with the School Board as a maintenance man. He was a life-long learner and read constantly. His great passion was gardening and he enjoyed sharing his produce as well as his seedlings with friends and neighbours. George was a man of honesty and integrity and will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by son, Clark and his children, Mairin, Jessie, Maura, and Kathleen; Grant (Shirley) and their children, Trevor and Stephen; Blaine (Bridget) and children, Leesha and Anita; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Grant Bernard MacKay, Kingston, Ont; Francis Gene (MahRhea) MacKay, Edmonton; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lorna “Rose†Scott; sister, Lillian. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 12 in Trinity United Church with Rev. Joanne McFadden officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church.
