Robert Chapman

Barry Chapman, age 88, of Riverview, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was a son of the late Frederick and Sarah (Smith) Chapman. Barry served in World War II with the 8th Hussars in Italy, North West Europe and England. He was a life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, Dorchester.
In addition to his wife Bessie (Smith) Chapman, he is survived by son Stephen (Ann), St Stephen; two daughters, Patricia MacLennan, Brampton, Ont., and Bonnie (Guy Roy) Chapman, Gatineau, Que., seven grandchildren, Robert, James, Christopher, Susan (Kirk), Chuck (Mandy), Brittni (Geoff), and Zackarie; four great grandchildren, Maya, Noah, Kaylee and Aaryk; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Roberta Bowes and Freda Robinson, as well as a half-brother, Cavour. Cremation has taken place under the care of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-1300), from where visitation took place on Sunday, Nov. 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service was held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at 11 a.m., Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial followed in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery. Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion held a Legion service on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. Donations in memory of Barry may be made to the Dorchester Rural Cemetery or The Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to extend a heart felt thanks to the staff of 4C at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital for their care and compassion.
