Mary Josephine Deeble

Mary Josephine Deeble, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2010 with family by her side. Born November 20, 1925 in Lourdes, NS, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Janet (Boyd) Clorey. She grew up in Moncton, NB and graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Academy. In 1944 she met a young British serviceman named Edward (Ted) Deeble while he was stationed in Canada and they married in Moncton, NB in 1949. Jo had a wonderful zest for life, which she happily shared with her family and many friends. She was very devoted to her faith and for over 60 years, she was a member of the Catholic Women's League and was Past President in Dartmouth, NS and Summerside, PEI. Jo also enjoyed being active and especially enjoyed gardening, skating, curling, and her fitness classes. She and Ted travelled extensively and shared special memories of their trips to Great Britain and Europe. Jo is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ted; her five loving children, Peter (Christina); Philip (Gerry); Virginia (Kevin); Mary Lynn (Bruce); Richard; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Marco); Martin (Cheryl); Edward (Louisa); Stephen (Allison); Bradley (Rachelle); Nicholas; Brian (Anna); Scott (Laura); Chandler; Payton; six great-grandchildren, brother Boyd (Claire) Clory, Riverview, NB; brother-in-law Pat Daley, Dartmouth; sister-in-law Mel Clory, Halifax; special cousins Helen (Burt) MacDonald, Antigonish, NS; Archie (Moira) Boyd, Ottawa, ON, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Agnes Clorey and Lorraine Daley. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
No visitation by request. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church (Maple Street, Dartmouth), Father Charles Burke celebrant. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family thanks all those who provided compassionate care and support during Jo's brief illness.
