RAYNER - Lily Elsie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 at Pioneer's Lodge in Moose Jaw. Elsie at the age of 84, predeceased by her beloved husband Phillip (1989). Loving mother of Allison Hubelit (Keith), and Douglas (Fran), cherished grandmother of Justin, Kayla, Zachary, Spencer and Cassandra. She will be missed by her sisters Marion Tolley, Gladys Morton, by her brother Allan Affleck, and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Elsie was born in Moose Jaw on July 12th, 1926 to Allan and Lily Affleck. She attended Central Collegiate and the Technical College for clerical training. Upon finishing college she began working at Robin Hood Mills in Moose Jaw, but later on went to work for the CNR station where she met Phillip Rayner. Following her marriage to Phillip in August of 1955, the young couple moved to Lancer, 70 miles NW of Swift Current, where they farmed and raised their 2 children. Following Phillip's passing in 1989, Elsie moved to Saskatoon for a few years and audited several courses at the University of Saskatchewan. She particularly enjoyed her independence, and spending time with young people there. She moved back to Moose Jaw in 2006, and resided at the Chateau St. Michael before moving to Pioneers Lodge in 2008. In her youth, she was a provincial tennis champion, but more recently she enjoyed carpet bowling and playing cards with friends. She identified with young people and loved to share jokes and stories about her life and experience. In keeping with Elsie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on the family farm in Lancer at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel. Blair Scott, Funeral Director. 694-5500.
