It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and aunt Susanna Anderson, 97, a resident of Peppett Street, North Sydney, and formerly of Port Aux Basques, N.L., on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in LaPoile, N.L. , she was a daughter of the late Morris and Isabella (Neil) Strickland.
She was a member of the United Church and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving is her five daughters, Nellie (Arthur) Francis, North Sydney, Dulcie Richards, Kenora, Ont., Elsie Watts, New Waterford, Grace (Roland) Hancock, Corner Brook, N.L., Lydia (Samuel) Kettle, Port Aux Basques, N.L., also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Susanna was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Anderson, three sons, George, Samuel and Chesley Anderson, one daughter, Mary Anderson, six brothers, William, Matthew, George, John, Thomas and Mercer Strickland, five sisters Emma, Clara, Jennie, Elizabeth and Mary, and grandson, Arthur Francis.
A private family visitation was held Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Susanna's remains were then transported to Port Aux Basques, N.L. for visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at East Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Church, Port Aux Basques, with burial in the church cemetery.
