It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Charles Neil MacKinnon of Little Narrows on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, with his family by his side.
He was born July 6, 1933, in Ashfield, Inverness County, to the Late John Dan and Isabell (MacDonald) MacKinnon.
Charles was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, and a Trustee of Stewartdale Cemetery. He was a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years, retired from Little Narrows Gypsum Plant. Charles was a member of the Iona Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jessie (MacInnis); son, Lawrence (Janet Gillis) MacKinnon; daughter, Noreen (Miles) Rudderham. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lawren (Jennifer) MacKinnon, Shamus (Kate) MacKinnon, Stephanie Rudderham (Martin) Seaboyer; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Seaboyer; sister, Christine MacCalder; brother, Frederick (Mary) MacKinnon and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his stepmother, Margaret MacQuarrie, sister, Betty Robbins, brother, Dan Hughie. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Horace Robbins and John MacCalder, sister-in-law, Nan MacKinnon.
In honouring Charles' wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stewartdale Cemetery Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh.
