Basil Boutilier

Born In: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: December 30th, 2010

On this day, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, our family has lost a wonderful husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, good brother, and brother-in-law.
Basil was the husband of Helen (Ivey); father of Holly (Albert) Long, Mark (Joanne) Boutilier and grandfather of Keghan and Chelsey Long. He was the brother of Earl (Pat) Boutlieir and Alice (Dave) Pearcey.
Basil was predeceased by his parents, Basil and Ivy Boutilier.
Basil worked in the engine room at HB Nickersons and later at National Sea. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator, keeping his old Windows 98 computer going and using his scooter and ride-on lawn mower to keep the family property trimmed and tidy.
This wonderful, kind, gentle man, though he used a wheelchair, to us, as a family, we feel he walked among men with strength and dignity.
At this time we would like to thank our extended family members for all their help, our co-workers, ERS staff of NSG especially Dwayne, and also the CC Unit of the CBRH. Joe and Lindsey you are exceptional nurses, also the staff of 4D especially Joan, Ashley and Kevin. We are grateful to Shauna for your compassionate arrangement when Basil passed away.
We would like thank the doctors who took such good care of Basil, Dr. Bernie MacIntosh, Dr. Maharaj, Dr. Chakfe, Dr. Ansari and especially Dr. Amin Buzaid for your kindness toward Basil and our family. Thank you to Dr.Patrick O'Grady for all the care over the years.
Visitation will be held at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. with a funeral service to follow that evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Luker officiating.
Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome@ns.aliantzinc.ca.
Basil, we will always love and miss you and as your favourite song by Tina Turner goes - you were "Simply the Best.". Rest in Peace.
