MacLeod, Sheila Elizabeth - 60, of Amherst and Western Head died suddenly on December 26 after a brief illness. Born in Halifax, N.S. in 1950, she lived for most of her life in Amherst, N.S. She was educated in Amherst schools and at Acadia University where she received her BA in 1971. She also studied Library Science at Dalhousie University. She married Wayne MacLeod of Wolfville in 1971. They resided there for two years and then moved to Amherst where she spent the rest of her life, and where her daughter Alexa was born in 1989. Sheila retired from the Cumberland Regional Library in 2008 after thirty-five years of service and was then able to spend more time with her family at her beloved Western Head. Sheila was an avid gardener and reader. She will be sadly missed by her mother Margaret Smith; her husband Wayne; daughter Alexa; sister Linda; brother Michael; niece Sheila and nephews Patrick and David; great niece Megan, and a number of cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Douglas U. Smith. Donations may be made to the Cumberland Regional Library P.O. There will be a reception at her home, 40 Rupert Street, Amherst on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 2-4PM. A gathering at her Farm in Western Head is planned for Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2011.
