Karen Phyllis "Bib" Rafuse - with saddened hearts on Tuesday January 4, 2011, at South Shore Regional Hospital, we gave back to God the gift which he so blessed us with 60 years ago, the life of a dear daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Karen Phyllis "Bib" Rafuse. Phyllis was born to Olive (Rafuse) and the Late Clark David Rafuse, at Payzant Memorial Hospital, Windsor, on May 20, 1950. She lived in the community of Upper Vaughan in the family home until 8 years ago, when placed in a special care facility in Dayspring, Lunenburg County, to which she then called home. Surrounded by family, she passed into God's keeping on Tuesday evening, due to pneumonia. She will be missed for her witty comments, kindness and love of music and dance. Phyllis leaves to mourn, her mother, Olive Elsie (Rafuse), Upper Vaughan; brothers and sisters, Emma "Betty" Chandler, Upper Vaughan; Lloyd (Sandy) Walker Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; Owen (Shirley) Smith Rafuse, Falmouth; Barbara (John) Leckie, Arnprior, Ontario; Pearl (Dennis) Mosher, Hantsport; Garry (Heather) Swinamer Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; Frankie (Hilda) Murphy Rafuse, Cheverie; Michael (Pamela) Smith Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; Kitty Hunter, St. Croix; Almeta Mitchell, Newport Corner; aunts, Ruby Foreman, Surrey, BC; Shirley Rafuse, Windsor; Jennie Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; she is also survived by 35 nieces and nephews, 68 grand nieces and grand nephews; 28 great nieces, great nephews, and numerous cousins. Besides her father, Clark; she was predeceased by brothers, Clark E. Rafuse and Paul D. Rafuse; brother-in-law, Basil Chandler; maternal grandparents, James and Lucy Swinamer Rafuse; paternal grandparents, David and Minnie Armstrong Rafuse; nieces, Diane Rafuse, Jennifer Rafuse and Angela Rafuse; nephews, Victor Chandler Jr. and Donald Douglas Chandler; great nephew, Jack St. Claire Zinck; 24 maternal and paternal aunts and uncles. We the family would like to thank the staff and administration of LeHave Manor, for the love, care and compassion displayed to Phyllis over the years. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 7, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Vaughans Community Cemetery, Lower Vaughan, followed by a reception at the home of her mother, Olive Rafuse, Upper Vaughan.
