The death of Olive Lorraine Stevens, wife of the late Roy Stevens, occurred on Friday, January 21, 2011 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1933 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Genieve (Connell) Stevens. Olive was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was an avid bingo player, was a member of the bowling league and she loved to sing. Her love of singing included her singing in church choirs, singing for the Pope in Moncton and also singing in the Tattoo 200 choir for the Canada Games. She is survived by her children Mary (Dwight) Creamer of Summerville, NB, Dianne (David) LeBlanc of Fredericton Junction, Debbie (Leo Hasselman) Cole of Hampton, Brian (Lynn) Stevens of Quispamsis, Cindy Barry of Saint John and Carl (Lucy) Stevens also of Saint John; sisters Ella Lamotte of Vancouver, BC, Nora Devine of Saint John and Carol (Francis) Hamm of Annapolis Royal; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers John Stevens and Ronald Stevens; sisters Evelyn Brewster, Doris Fortune, Dianne Cormier; infant granddaughter Sarah Stevens and son-in-law John Barry.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations on Sunday January 23, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Alzheimer's Society, Kidney Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Extra Mural Program.
