It is with sadness that the family of Rita van Groenewoud announce her passing on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the age of 83. Rita is survived by her husband, Herman; son, Ernst; daughter, Mariet (Scott Rynax) as well as grandchildren, Nicholas and Jared Rynax. Rita immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands with her husband Herman in 1950. She very much enjoyed her adopted country and always demonstrated great interest in topics related to philosophy and spirituality. She was a long time member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton and enjoyed many lively debates there. Another great pleasure for her was to spend time at the family cottage on Little Magaguadavic Lake. This past December family and friends joined Rita and Herman to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary at Oakland Lodge.
Rita's request for no visitation will be respected. A brief service will be held at the Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton at a later date. For those who wish, memorials to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com
