Joseph Edward Morrison, born February 14, 1921 in Whitney Pier, Sydney, Nova Scotia, passed away in Orange County, California on May 24, 2009 surrounded by his children and loved ones.
Having spent his early youth in Sydney, he later went on to serve in the Second World War and enlisted before the age of 18 years as a B17 Pilot and Navigation Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force in defense of Allied Merchant Marine Convoys in the North Atlantic.
He later joined the Knights of Columbus and as a member, supported the Catholic Church, gave back to his community, and built upon his faith.
In 1946, he married Margaret Susan Burke his beloved wife of 62 years. In 1952, they traveled with their children to Southern California in search of a new life for his family. Shortly, thereafter he continued to build upon his accomplishments and success, as he decided to purchase an orange grove, where he built a home, and developed his own contracting business.
Joe most enjoyed reading novels, playing blackjack, baseball, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling back to Sydney to spend time with his siblings and immediate family. During visits to Sydney, Joe would meet and greet others and created many strong connections with those he met. He touched many lives with his generous and caring nature.
Joe was a noble, genuine and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. His sense of humour, selflessness and love for life will continue to live on through the many cherished memories his loved ones hold.
