Mary Trottier

TROTTIER - It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Montgomery Trottier announce her passing on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Bridges Personal Care Centre, Ponteix, SK at the age of 78 years. Mary was born in Climax, SK on December 22, 1932 and was raised on the family farm just 1 mile north of town. Mary attended school and graduated in Climax. She was united in marriage to Buzz Trottier on March 1, 1954. They lived in various places in Saskatchewan and United States while her husband worked road construction. In the early 1960's Buzz and Mary moved the family back to the Trottier family ranch outside Val Marie, SK. She took a position at the Val Marie Credit Union and worked there for approximately 23 years before retiring in 1999. Mary loved visiting with all the local people in the coffee shop every day. In April of 2010 Mary moved to Bridges Care Home in Ponteix, SK. This was her home away from home as she enjoyed the social environment as much as the wonderful care that the staff at Bridges provided. Mary's greatest joy was travelling in the most recognized Toyota pickup truck to the neighbouring towns to follow her grandkids' sporting events. She loved watching hockey, curling and baseball. All the kids on the team would love when "Grandma Mary" would be there honking her horn to cheer them on. She was their #1 fan. She enjoyed bingo and could be found at many bingo functions in the neighbouring towns. Her greatest gift to her 5 children was to attend and support each and every family accomplishment. A celebration of Life service was held on Wednesday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Val Marie Roman Catholic Church with Shelby Kinrade officiating. Organist was Carol East, eulogist was Barry Dixon, and several members of the Trottier family sung musical tributes. "Sissy's Song" was sung by Kevin and Jessie Grant, "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" was sung by Kevin and Jessie Grant and Jordy Trottier, "Go Rest High Upon That Mountain" was sung by her children Bryan, Kathy and Monty and grandchild Kevin Grant, "Old Rugged Cross" was sung by Kathy and Kevin Grant and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" was sung by Kathy Grant and Bryan Trottier. Interment was held at Val Marie Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren Kevin Grant, Stephanie Gross, Kelly Grant, Jessie Grant, Jordy Trottier and Chelsey Low.
